R4 AIS Transponder System
Ships equipped with an AIS transponder can receive transmitted messages from other ships within VHF range, and plot the position of the ships with its speed, name, call sign, heading, course over ground etc. On the AIS display and/or external plotting aids. This means that every ship within VHF radio coverage may be automatically plotted on the bridge display systems. Saab provides the world with the AIS solution it requires, both at sea and on land.

R40 AIS Base Station
The R40 AIS Base Station is a standard 19” rack module intended for land installations, either as a stand-alone unit or in a network. The R40 system is designed for high availability and reliability due to the low power consumption, giving low internal heat radiation. This guarantees the performance and ensures long, trouble-freeoperation. The R40 consists internally of a VHF transceiver, a GPS receiver and a controller unit. As an option, the R40 AIS Base Station also includes a DGPS Reference Station. With a reference station the R40 has the possibility to broadcast differential corrections.

R4S - Secure AIS Solutions |
R4S Secure AIS Solutions
The AIS Class A broadcasting standard is excellent for information sharing between commercial ships at sea and between ships and shore stations. The AIS system will enhance safety and security in ports and out at sea as the population of AIS users grows. This open information sharing is however not suitable for users like Navy, Coast Guard, Police, etc., who have a need to exchange secure information between their own assets and still be able to receive the open AIS information. Saab TransponderTech has developed the R4S AIS, which satisfi es these requirements.

R4 Navigation System |
R4 Navigation System
The new navigation products from Saab are self-monitoring and extremely user friendly. They perform continuous RAIM (Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring) calculations. This allows the Officer Of the Watch (OOW) to set the required navigation accuracy for any stage of the journey. The R4 Navigation System will then give continuous feedback on whether the accuracy requirement is being met.
The new Saab R4 GPS/DGPS products will of course be ideal to connect to existing or future AIS systems, ensuring that the ship operates in full compliance with all relevant regulations. It is a well-known fact that many existing GPS systems don’tprovide correct information, in the required formats, as defined in the AIS standard. GPS information is becoming extremely vital.
